LASER HAIR REMOVAL PRE & POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Before your treatment:
- REMOVE ALL products from the treatment area (ie: makeup, lotions, toner, etc… )
- Stop tweezing bleaching threading, epilating, waxing or any procedure that pulls out the hair that we are going to treat 6 weeks prior to your laser hair removal treatment
- SHAVE BEFORE TREATMENT! the closer the shave (less than 1-2mm), the better the
results - Use a new razor to shave the area prior to treatment to avoid bacterial contamination & folliculitis
- Avoid direct and prolonged sun exposure on the planned treatment areas 4 weeks prior to treatment. This includes avoiding tanning beds and self-tanning products
- Discontinue acids, acne products and any form of exfoliants 2 weeks prior to treatment. This includes alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acids, retinals, renova, differen or tazorac
- Antibiotics that cause photosensitivity must be stopped 2 weeks prior to treatment
- Inform your practitioner (MD or aesthetic RN) about:
- Current medication: over the counter or prescription
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
After your treatment:
- Avoid direct and prolonged sun exposure during the entire course of treatment
- Wear protective sun on treated areas (minimum of SPF 35)
- Avoid sweating or extreme heat conditions such as exercise, saunas, hot tubs and hot
showers - Avoid all acne products, acids and any form of exfoliants until redness and skin irritation has subsided
- Some redness and slight swelling of the treatment area may be present. This should
subside within 24 hours - If you experience hyperpigmentation of the treated area, give us a call for advice
- For optimal results, consider returning at the exact time your practitioner recommends
